The Woodlands and Wetlands Trust

The Woodlands and Wetlands Trust run a variety of unique Australian experiences ideal for people interested in nature, with a focus on woodlands and wetlands. They are a community owned not-for-profit organisation that protects two distinct sanctuaries in Canberra: Jerrabomberra Wetlands and Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary.

Tours and events are based on the seasons and what's happening in the environment. Examples include the famous regular Twilight Tours at Mulligans Flat, bird watching at Jerrabomberra Wetlands, the Science in the Sanctuary forum, guided Kids Walks during school holidays, and Wildflower Walks in Spring.

Tours are a mixture of paid and non-paying experiences.

Visit the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and Mulligans Flat websites to find out what events are happening at these two vibrant Canberra sanctuaries.

Tours & services

Step back in time and experience the Australian bush as it was 100 years ago. The Mulligans Flat Twilight Tour gives you the opportunity to see animals in the wild that disappeared from the landscape a century ago. The Eastern Bettong hops and digs through the night. The Eastern Quoll dances and climbs with its spots on show, and the Bush Stone-curlew's melancholic call can be heard echoing through the nights.

Under the guidance of sanctuary ecologists you will be led inside the predator-proof fence, deep into the endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodlands. The experts will spotlight the nighttime action for you while telling stories of the groundbreaking conservation programs that make the sanctuary possible.

Other highlights can include sugar gliders soaring from tree to tree, echidnas waddling, wallabies leaping and owls hooting.

Book a Twilight Tour today and experience the nocturnal magic of Mulligans Flat. By booking your ticket from the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust, you are helping Australia say no to extinction.
